Genealogy/Local History
The Genealogy/Local History Room is open to the public during regular library hours: Monday thru Thursday 9:00 am - 8:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, and Saturday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
The Genealogy/Local History Room is staffed and funded in part by the Genealogy Friends of the Library.
Resources Available in the Genealogy/Local History Room include:
- Federal Censuses for Missouri on microfilm (including 1930)
- Newton County newspapers on microfilm beginning 1869
- Newton County marriage records, plus thousands of original marriage licenses from 1930 - 1986 (available to familiy members)
- Obituary file - Cemetery listings - Maps, as well as reference materials for other Missouri counties
- The Civil War Collection
