The Friends will have a booth at the Business &Industry Review March 13-14. Members will be handing out NEW Bookmarks with our logo and purpose. The Friends wishes to publicly thank Mr. John Ford, Neosho Daily News for designing our logo. Membership forms will be available at the booth. Membership in the Friends Group is:

Dick Keezer has donated a 3 story DOLLHOUSE to the Friends group to be used as a fundraiser. It will be on display at the B/I Review and for a $1.00 donation the recipient may enter his/her name for a chance to win the DOLLHOUSE. After it has been displayed at other venues, a drawing will be held at the April 14 Friends meeting.
In March the Neosho/Newton County Library joins ReadMOre in an annual statewide reading celebration. The 2009 featured book is A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley.
Library patrons are invited to support Summer Reading by purchasing a Wall Tulip for $1.00. The program is called: "New Readers are Springing Up". Library staff, Friends members and patrons provided generous support last year. These funds will be used to purchase prizes and programs this summer.
Our library has been collecting email addresses when people register for their library cards. It is a nice way to send reminders about overdue books or holds that are ready to pick up.

MARCH 2 – Family Film time at 4pm - The Cat in the Hat will be shown on Dr. Seuss' Birthday. Special Dr. Seuss storytimes at 11, 1 and 3.
MARCH 13 - Features Don Iman the Kite Man at 10:AM, who will talk about kites and how they are made. Children will build their own kite.
MARCH 24 6:30PM Missouri History Speakers Bureau – “Covering the Dead: the War of 1812 in Missouri Territory" with guest speaker, Dr. Brad D. Lockbill, Dept. of History, Columbia College, Columbia, MO.
Held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10AM - 11:30AM at Neosho and Wednesdays at Seneca Branch. Instructor: Jerry Parker
Abby Moser, teen knitter, finishes her first project. Funding for teen knitting classes was provided by the Newcomers Club.
We have received many favorable comments from those who came to our BUSEUM exhibit in October 2008, Held in the Heartland. Librarian Ginny Ray says, “I hope our newly formed Friends Group will help bring more programs of this caliber to our area.” It was not only a successful venture but an inspiration to all who attended.
