Tips for Kindle readers

(Note: Kindle Fire owners may now download the OverDrive Media Console app from the Kindle App Store and checkout eBooks and eAudiobooks through that app without having to checkout through the web and sending to Amazon and downloading via Amazon. You will also need to do a one time setup getting an Adobe ID to register your device app. In the long run, this new app reduces a few steps from the process listed below.)

Sign on to molib2go.org in the upper right, thereafter selecting Neosho Newton County Library and

entering your library card number (without spaces) and your pin (usually last four of Social Security

number or driver's license number, which ever you used to apply for your library card,

eBooks:

For a black & white Kindle, you will only be able to check out eBooks first only through a computer, then later “pick up” via wifi or through a usb cable.

For a (color) Kindle Fire, you may do this procedure completely on your Kindle Fire.

Browse the website of molib2go.org to find a book that you would like to check out.

You may limit the display of titles by clicking in the box before, "Only show titles with copies available" and then select "Submit".

For desired title, find button to the right of "Kindle" then click on "Add to Cart".

Either "Continue Browsing" or "Proceed to Checkout" (after "Proceed to Checkout") select your desired lending period and "Confirm Checkout".

BEFORE you click on "Download" make sure that you have signed into your Amazon account in a new window or tab in your internet browser.

Click on “Download” then a new browser window (or tab) will open for you to confirm to Amazon that

you indeed wish to loan this book. Library loans will only be transferred through wifi or USB - NO library books will be transferred through 3G. (If you have a 3G only model Kindle, you must transfer through USB and place the file in the "Documents" folder of your Kindle.) When your Kindle is connected to wifi, and you sync with Amazon, your library book will appear in your Kindle’s library list.

NOTE: Some publishers require the transfer of library eBooks to Kindle only via USB.

Audiobooks:

Most newer models of Kindle will support MP3 audio books only (not WMA audiobooks) (a headphone jack on your Kindle is

a good indication that it supports audio). The procedure is similar to checking out eBooks and they do not transfer via wifi. Audio books must manually be transferred into the "music" folder on the Kindle via USB. You can also use “OverDrive Media Console” (Windows computer) to transfer mp3 audiobooks to your Kindle.

Tips for Nook readers

Using a Nook to Read eBooks from the library is easy! All you have to do is check out and download an eBook and then transfer it to your Nook using Adobe Digital editions (ADE).

NOTE: Nook Color and Tablets now have the app, Overdrive Media Console, available from B&N, negating your need for a computer or cable.

Sign on to molib2go.org in the upper right, thereafter selecting Neosho Newton County Library and entering your library card number (without spaces) and your pin (usually last four of Social Security number or driver's license number, which ever you used to apply for your library card,

eBooks:

For a black & white Nook, you will only be able to check out eBooks first through a computer, then later transfer through a usb cable.

For a color Nook, you may do this procedure completely on your color Nook.

Browse the website of molib2go.org to find a book that you would like to check out.

You may limit the display of titles by clicking in the box before, "Only show titles with copies available" and then select "Submit".

Either "Continue Browsing" or "Proceed to Checkout" (after "Proceed to Checkout") select your desired lending period and "Confirm Checkout".

For black & white Nooks: At selecting “Download” – when asked, “Open or Save” then the appropriate answer would be “Save” to save to your computer to open in Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). Connect your Nook and “drag and drop” to your Nook icon in the left column of ADE.

For color Nooks: At selecting “Download”, the app Overdrive Media Console will open and download the eBook.

Audiobooks:

Most newer models of Nook will support MP3 audio books only (a headphone jack on your Nook is a good indication that it supports audio). You must use “OverDrive Media Console” (Windows computer) to transfer mp3 audiobooks to your Nook (black & white).
